Know what you’re reading

A live endpoint must say when it has no live answer.

    Data and availability

Calculate now on the home page runs in your browser and needs no service. The checks below are for the server feeds.

    Checking the direct calculation feed…

    Robinhood contract feed

The direct adapter resolves the two supplied contracts against Robinhood’s mainnet asset registry, then requests underlying-equity bid/ask prices. It uses their midpoint without applying the token multiplier. Prices are cached for 15 seconds. Missing contracts, stale timestamps and halted quotes are reported individually.

    bStocks price cross-checks

TSLAB and SPCXB prices are requested by their exact BNB Chain contract addresses through CoinGecko. The adapter requests full price precision and the provider’s update timestamp. Token prices can differ from underlying shares and do not silently substitute for them. The combined feed check refreshes every 60 seconds.

    Embedded market quotes

The home page offers an opt-in TradingView quote panel for Tesla and SpaceX. Data availability and delays are determined by TradingView and the exchange. These displays do not feed the independent calculation: TradingView does not offer widget data export or a quote API. See TradingView data documentation.

    On each page load

/api/v1/current.json requests the independent calculation. When its inputs are unavailable, it returns HTTP 503 with a null total and a specific reason. The dated publisher reference is available separately and is never substituted into the headline.

    The live contract

/api/v1/live.json returns HTTP 503 and a machine-readable unavailable status with null value and observation date. It never falls back to the retired synthetic figure.

    {"status":"unavailable","is_live":false,
     "net_worth_usd":null,"as_of":null}

    Publisher reference

/api/v1/reference.json records the Forbes estimate of $1.051 trillion for 6 October 2026, checked 6 October 2026. Calculate now moves it by share prices and labels the result as our estimate. The closing prices and share counts it uses are at /api/v1/prices.json.

    Retired simulation

The old synthetic dataset and simulation have been removed. The reference endpoint is the single source for the displayed dated estimate.

    Before a live release

Each economic interest needs a unique identity, dated source evidence, treatment of parent-company overlap, and currency. Prices need market-session and delay information. Missing evidence prevents a verified estimate; stale observations must retain their timestamp.

The server validates licensing configuration and a reviewed ownership ledger before requesting quotes. It rejects stale, future-dated or malformed observations, and caches valid upstream responses briefly. No market account is connected and no unattended monitoring is running.

    Validation checks

The server rejects missing evidence, overlapping interests, stale quotes, and closed-market updates. Tests also check date handling and the trillion-dollar display boundary.
