    What was checked

The Forbes Real-Time Billionaires list showed $1.051 trillion for Elon Musk on 6 October 2026, the day we read it, with its change since the previous trading day. It shows the figure to the nearest $1 billion. We keep the date of the estimate separate from the date we checked it.

What this record does not tell you

The estimate does not come with a reconciled ownership ledger, a verified daily change, or a breakdown of assets anyone could reproduce. It does not establish exact share counts for an independent calculation.

    Corporate relationships matter

Forbes reports that SpaceX acquired xAI in February 2026, and that X had merged into xAI before that. The diagram on the home page draws those relationships so nothing is counted twice. They cannot be added as separate holdings without reconciling economic ownership.

    Revision record

The current record is forbes-2026-10-06-v1. On 6 October 2026 it replaced forbes-2026-10-05-v1, which recorded $981 billion for 5 October 2026. Before that, forbes-2026-09-30-v1 recorded $933.3 billion for 30 September 2026, and forbes-2026-09-20-v2 recorded $946.5 billion for 20 September 2026. Every earlier record is kept in the machine-readable record and on the history page.

Release 3 replaced the illustrative home page value with an attributed estimate, and the old allocations, chart and synthetic simulator were retired. Every future update needs a new dated record. Refreshing a browser never changes the evidence date.
